Lily Clark: It's like a dream come

Lily Clark is excited to get to work after signing the first professional contract of her career at Aston Villa. After turning 18-years-old on Sunday, 13th September the young goalkeeper officially signed on the dotted line as a member of the club's women's first team squad. "It's like a dream come true," she told Villa TV. "This has been the goal and this has been the dream." The England youth international continued, "Villa took a chance on bringing me in and I want to repay them. "It's an honour. To have it happen at this club is really special."She continued, "It's been amazing so far. I've been in the stands before and to now be on the pitch, it honestly doesn't real sometimes. It's crazy." Since joining the club in October 2025, Clark has spent plenty of time learning, developing and receiving guidance on the training pitch alongside established internationals in Villa's goalkeeper union. "Ellie Roebuck has been very good in terms of guidance and giving me advice on my training," Clark said. "The standard that they bring in training every single day, they're always quality. That's the level that you want to work towards."When asked what the best piece of advice she has been given during her time so far in B6, Clark said, "The biggest thing is having confidence when you're playing and backing yourself. Just being able to make decisions and sticking with them and if it doesn't work out, just do it again." Clark finished by giving fans an insight into her playing style and revealing what element of her game she would like to work on as she grows closer to making her debut. "My height is definitely my selling point, and my diving. I'd say because of my height I can just dive and reach the top corners. "Mastering passing the ball short distances, my footwork, that is definitely what I want to improve on." Watch Lily's full interview with VillaTV below...
