Every Premier League club's biggest deals in summer transfer window

Arsenal

It wasn’t until August that Premier League champions Arsenal made their first statement signing with the arrival of Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United. The versatile and hugely talented central midfielder was among the biggest signings in the competition this summer.

However, following a long-term injury to William Saliba, poaching Ezri Konsa from Aston Villa could prove to be even more significant in Arsenal’s push to retain the title.

Out wide, Arsenal have signed Greek winger Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge, after 17 goals and 23 assists in the Belgian Pro League last season.

The 24-year-old left winger replaces Leandro Trossard, the scorer of the goal at West Ham United that effectively won Arsenal the title. Trossard has been sold to Besiktas while left-sided defender Jakob Kiwior’s loan to Porto has been made permanent, Christian Norgaard has joined Everton and Gabriel Jesus has departed for Barcelona.

Piero Hincapie has seen his loan deal from Bayer Leverkusen made permanent following a successful debut campaign in the Premier League. Illan Meslier has arrived on a free transfer from Leeds United, but as things stand looks set to be the club’s third-choice goalkeeper.

Aston Villa

It was a very busy summer at Villa Park, where revolution not evolution defines sweeping changes to the first XI.

Alejandro Garnacho joined from Chelsea on loan, with an obligation to buy if certain criteria are met, directly replacing Morgan Rogers, who went in the other direction to Stamford Bridge in a separate deal.

Highly-rated midfielder Johan Manzambi, who starred for Switzerland at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, was captured early in the window from Freiburg.

He is joined by former Wolverhampton Wanderers defensive midfielder Joao Gomes, with Villa moving quickly to rebuild central midfield following the sale of Youri Tielemans to Manchester United.

Villa’s raid on World Cup stars continued in August with the purchase of Japan goalkeeper Zion Suzuki to replace the departing Emiliano Martinez, who has joined Rogers at Chelsea. On Transfer Deadline Day, they signed another of the summer tournament's big players, 18-year-old winger Ibrahim Mbaye from PSG.

Following Lucas Digne’s sale to Paris Saint-Germain, Unai Emery swooped for Atleti left-back Matteo Ruggeri, while Leon Goretzka was signed from Bayern Munich.

Up front, Ollie Watkins left for Al-Hilal and was replaced by Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson while Taylor Harwood-Bellis came in for Konsa, completing an almighty single-window rebuild at Villa Park.

Bournemouth

After yet another loss at the back this summer, with Marcos Senesi leaving for Tottenham Hotspur at the expiration of his contract, Bournemouth have brought in towering centre-back Antonio Silva, a 22-year-old who already has 20 caps for Portugal.

Other than Sevilla right-back Juanlu Sanchez, striker Alvaro Rodriguez is the only other significant signing of the new Marco Rose era.

The 22-year old former Real Madrid player, who scored seven goals and provided five assists in 32 La Liga appearances for Elche last season, will provide competition for Evanilson as Bournemouth prepare for their first-ever European campaign.

On-loan pair Luis Sinisterra and Hamed Traore had their obligations to buy activated by Cruzeiro and Marseille respectively.

Brentford

Brentford have strengthened in multiple areas.

Teenage centre-back Jannik Schuster was signed from Red Bull Salzburg after impressing across 29 appearances in Austrian football last season.

Brentford have also signed Burnley winger Jaidon Anthony following an impressive campaign in 2025/26 in which he scored eight goals and set up two more for the relegated Clarets, while ex-West Ham striker Callum Wilson has joined the Bees on a free transfer.

But the two most significant signings are midfielder Mamadou Sangare, who has made a flying start to Premier League life, and left-back El Hadji Malick Diouf, who impressed at relegated West Ham United last season.

Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton were typically active this summer, scouring Europe for new recruits.

They spent big on Nigerian winger Zadok Yohanna from AIK Stockholm in Sweden, brought in right-back Costinha from Olympiacos, signed centre-back Michael Svobada from Italian Serie B champions Venezia and Portugal Under-21 international Rodrigo Rego from Benfica, and acquired Chema Andres on deadline day. Andres made 41 appearances for Stuttgart last season.

More familiar to Premier League fans, Pascal Struijk has joined from Leeds United, while Brighton signed Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Luka Vuskovic, replacing Jan Paul van Hecke, who moved in the opposite direction.

As for exits, Diego Coppola’s January loan to Paris FC was made permanent, plus long-time servants Adam Webster and Solly March departed on free transfers.

James Milner, after breaking the all-time Premier League appearance record in 2025/26, has hung up his boots after more than 20 years in the top flight.

But the biggest departure is Carlos Baleba, who has joined Manchester United, although the 22-year-old only started 23 Premier League games for Fabian Hurzeler last season.

Chelsea

It’s been another busy summer window for Chelsea, in the early days of the Xabi Alonso era.

Rogers is the marquee signing from Villa, but he is far from the only player signed to fit Alonso’s 3-4-2-1 system.

He is joined by Geovany Quenda, who was notably converted into a wing-back by Ruben Amorim at Sporting, and by Marco Palestra, an exciting wing-back arriving from Atalanta, as well as Maxence Lacroix, who excelled at Crystal Palace last season as the star of their back three.

Striker Emmanuel Emegha has also joined from Strasbourg, providing competition to Joao Pedro and Liam Delap, while midfielder Valentin Barco has moved from the same club, although the 22-year-old’s first-team opportunities may be limited for now.

The most surprising business of all, however, is the double swoop for Danny Welbeck and Jordan Henderson. These are the first over-30 signings of the BlueCo era, suggesting a significant shift in transfer policy for the club.

Chelsea have also made several significant sales. Marc Cucurella has gone to Real Madrid, Enzo Fernandez to Man City, Garnacho to Aston Villa, Trevoh Chalobah to Como, Liam Delap to Nottingham Forest and Andrey Santos is now a Man Utd player.

Coventry City

A relatively quiet window for Coventry was shaken into life with the capture of 22-year-old centre-back Aurele Amenda from Eintracht Frankfurt.

Amenda played 24 Bundesliga matches last season and appeared five times in the UEFA Champions League, adding the kind of top-level experience all promoted clubs need at the back. Ethan Pinnock has also arrived, from Brentford, and adds significant Premier League nous.

Coventry then brought in Ghanaian midfielder Caleb Yirenkyi from Nordsjaelland, where he won the Danish Superliga's Young Player of the Year award last season.

He is joined by winger Loum Tchaouna, who adds Premier League knowhow from Burnley, while Frank Onyeka’s loan from Brentford and Carl Rushworth’s loan from Brighton have been made permanent.

Late in August, Frank Lampard began adding strikers. Sidiki Cherif arrived for a significant fee from Fernebahce, where he scored two goals in 12 Turkish Super Lig appearances last season, and Taiwo Awoniyi has brought power and Premier League experience from Nottingham Forest.

Crystal Palace

After a slow start, Palace made lots of late moves in the window, including three on deadline day: Dario Osorio, a winger who amassed 25 goals and 18 assists in 121 games for FC Midtjylland; Quinten Timber, who made his loan deal permanent, and former Chelsea left-back Ben Chilwell.

New manager Pierre Sage has added 27-year-old defender Oscar Mingueza; arriving on a free transfer from Celta Vigo, he replaces Maxence Lacroix, one of previous boss Oliver Glasner’s most important defenders in the back three.

Dwight McNeil has also arrived from from Everton, with Brennan Johnson heading the other way in a swap deal.

But the most fascinating is the big-money move for right-back Anan Khalaili, who impressed at Belgian Pro League club Union SG but is making a huge step up to Premier League level.

Everton

It’s been a busy summer for Everton, whose supporters will be feeling optimistic about a number of moves made.

The much sought after Hayden Hackney was plucked from Middlesbrough after a breakout season in the Championship saw the 24-year-old midfielder play a starring role in their promotion push. He replaced Idrissa Gueye, released at the end of his contract.

David Moyes has added another midfielder in Norgaard, a dominant figure at Brentford who struggled for minutes at Arsenal last season, while McNeil has been swapped with Crystal Palace’s Johnson.

Winger Tyrique George and midfielder Merlin Rohl, both on loan at Everton in 2025/26, made their moves permanent from Chelsea and Freiburg respectively.

However, Iliman Ndaye’s sale to Man City is a blow, however, offset by Jack Grealish re-signing on loan and Ainsley Maitland-Niles’ return to the Premier League.

Seamus Coleman’s 17-year stay at Goodison Park came to an end in May, after 374 Premier League appearances for the club.

Fulham

Fulham’s biggest signing this summer has been in the dugout, not least because Alvaro Arbeloa – the former Liverpool defender and Real Madrid manager – has convinced two Real players to come with him.

Gonzalo Garcia, who was capped by Spain for the first time in June, scored eight goals in 39 appearances for Real Madrid last season and has replaced Raul Jimenez, who left on a free transfer.

Cesar Palacios, a 21-year-old attacking midfielder, was less established at Real, making only five appearances in 2025/26, but like Garcia he played under Arbeloa for Real Madrid Castilla (B team). He has joined Fulham to replace Harry Wilson, who departed for Leeds.

Fulham have also splashed the cash on Southampton midfielder Shea Charles, reportedly making him the most expensive Northern Ireland footballer of all time. Charles has replaced Sasa Lukic, who departed for Ipswich Town.

Elsewhere, Jonah Kusi-Asare, the 19-year-old forward who spent 2025/26 on loan at Craven Cottage, has signed permanently from Bayern Munich while Issa Diop was sold to Ipswich Town.

Hull City

Hull had the busy summer window most expected – right up to a deadline-day flurry of six signings.

They spent big on 6ft 4in forward Ilyas Ansah from Union Berlin, Genoa right-back Brooke Norton-Cuffy, and 19-year-old Olympiakos midfielder Christos Mouzakitis, before also adding Premier League experience in Tim Iroegbunam. Completing a remarkable final 24 hours, Hull brought in France Under-20 international Robinio Vaz and winger Sorba Thomas from Stoke City.

Those moves for mostly young players differed somewhat from Hull’s earlier business, which focused on experience.

Greece international goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis arrived to replace Ivor Pandur as the new No 1, while Matt Targett and Jack Butland were signed on free transfers. Their combined 251 Premier League appearances could prove invaluable.

In midfield, Hidemasa Morita may be new to English football but he has 40 caps with Japan and won the Primeira Liga title at Sporting in 2023/24 and 2024/25, and new left-back Elliot Stroud just lifted the top-flight title with Swedish side Mjallby.

Joe Gelhardt has moved permanently after scoring 14 Championship goals for Hull last season while 23-year-old Lucas Gourna-Douath has joined from Red Bull Salzburg and Mohamed-Ali Cho has arrived from Nice.

The most intriguing deal is for 20-year-old forward Jens Hjerto-Dahl from Eliteserien. The 20-year-old is currently the joint-second highest scorer in the Norwegian top flight, which is just reaching its midpoint, with seven goals in 14 games for Tromso.

Like many others at Hull, both old and new, the Premier League will be a big step up for Dahl.

Ipswich Town

After being relegated straight back to the Championship last time up, in 2024/25, Ipswich’s busy summer window – with two marquee signings – reflects their hunger to do better this season.

Winger Abdul Fatawu impressed at Leicester City despite their relegation to League One and he arrived to much fanfare, as did striker Emersonn, who is the first Brazilian to play for Ipswich. The 22-year-old scored six goals for Toulouse in Ligue 1 last season.

However, the signing that most caught the eye is Daizen Maeda, the Japan international forward who scored at the World Cup following a stunning end to the campaign for Celtic. He scored a crucial goal in the final game of the SPL season, helping win the title from Hearts, and in the Scottish Cup final a week later.

New head coach Gary O’Neil has strengthened at the back, too. New goalkeeper Kayne van Oevelen made 32 Eredivisie appearances last season, although he is likely to play second fiddle to the signing of Kjell Scherpen, a former Brighton goalkeeper who impressed at Belgian club Royale Union Saint-Gilloise last season.

In front of the new No 1, O’Neil has plumped for experience: centre-back Issa Diop made 173 Premier League appearances for West Ham and Fulham.

It doesn’t end there. The midfield was next to get an upgrade and again the key was experience, with defensive midfielders Florentino Luis and Sasa Lukic signing from Burnley and Fulham respectively, while Julio Enciso has returned to the club after a year at Strasbourg. Argentina international Exequiel Palacios has brought know-how from Bayer Leverkusen.

Leeds United

Leeds beat plenty of competition to pick up Wilson on a free transfer, landing the Fulham star who scored 10 goals and assisted seven more in the Premier League last season.

But the man Leeds have signed to replace centre-back Pascal Struijk, who left for Brighton, could prove to be more impactful: Tarik Muharemovic had a superb campaign at Sassuolo and has all the hallmarks of a top defender.

Then their third big buy was arguably another step above that. Goalkeeper James Trafford was expected to be Manchester City’s No 1 before Gianluigi Donnarumma arrived in the same transfer window last summer. Trafford now has the No 1 shirt at Elland Road.

Liverpool

Andoni Iraola oversaw a changing of the guard this summer and Liverpool have wasted no time replacing the giants now departed.

Centre-back Jeremy Jacquet is a direct replacement for Ibrahima Konate, one of three stars who left on a free transfer this summer.

Mohamed Salah has left Anfield for Trabzonspor and supporters will be delighted if highly-rated winger Victor Munoz can have anywhere near the impact of the Egyptian.

But the biggest business was saved until last. Bradley Barcola, the PSG star winger, has been signed to great fanfare.

Andy Robertson, who moved to Spurs on a free transfer, is yet to be replaced, and the same could be said of Curtis Jones, who has signed for Inter.

Manchester City

Rodri, Bernardo Silva, John Stones, Savio, Omar Marmoush, Nico Gonzalez, Manuel Akanji, Tijjani Reijnders and Nathan Ake all left Man City in a summer of major change at the Etihad Stadium.

Enzo Maresca will want to stamp his authority on the team after Pep Guardiola stepped down, and he will do so via an entirely new midfield. Elliot Anderson, signed from Nottingham Forest, looks like he will be the poster boy for the new era alongside Enzo Fernandez, although 18-year-old midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi has arrived from Lille for the kind of transfer fee that suggests he will also play a starring role this season.

Higher up the pitch, Ndiaye is the marquee signing to provide competition for Jeremy Doku although Allan, a Brazilian forward signed from Palmeiras for a significant fee, could be a breakout star.

Elsewhere, there is a buzz around winger Jeremy Monga, the 17-year-old breakthrough star who made 34 league appearances for Leicester City last season.

Manchester United

Man Utd have been anticipating a rebuild of central midfield for a long time now, and after Casemiro left on a free transfer this summer Michael Carrick was always going to strengthen in the middle.

Youri Tielemans, Andrey Santos, and Carlos Baleba - arriving from Aston Villa, Chelsea, and Brighton respectively - will make up an entirely new Man Utd central midfield for 2026/27: Tielemans is the pass-master, Santos the defensive screen, and Baleba the box-to-box runner.

Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia have left at the expiration of their contracts while Rasmus Hojlund’s loan at Napoli was made permanent when the Italian club’s qualification for the Champions League triggered a buyout clause.

Newcastle United

Newcastle were active in the transfer market, almost exclusively signing players to replace key members of the squad who have moved on this summer. Those transactions happened in virtually every position on the pitch.

Up front, Nick Woltemade left for Juventus on deadline day to make room for arguably Newcastle’s marquee signing Matias Fernandez-Pardo, a 21-year-old with 13 goals or assists last season for Lille. By the time he joined, major surgery had already been done in midfield and defence.

Sandro Tonali was sold to Spurs, prompting the signing of defensive midfielder Aladji Bamba from Monaco, a like-for-like replacement for tough tackling in the middle of the park. Guimaraes has also gone from the midfield - to Arsenal - and replacing him is Man City’s Gonzalez.

Anthony Gordon has joined Barcelona and in his place comes left winger Bazoumana Toure, who contributed 14 goals and assists in 30 Bundesliga appearances for Hoffenheim last season.

There is excitement surrounding 18-year-old Sean Steur, a central midfielder from Ajax who impressed in pre-season and may be the answer to Guimaraes’ sale to Arsenal.

Meanwhile right-back Amar Dedic was thrown straight into the first team for the 2-2 draw with Liverpool on the opening weekend.

In goal, there are high expectations surrounding 20-year-old Ewen Jaouen, although he is likely to be second choice behind Lukas Hornicek, who joined from Braga.

Nottingham Forest

Forest are usually among the most active of clubs but things have been quieter at the City Ground this year, or at least they were until Liam Delap came in from Chelsea to become their new No 9.

New head coach Oliver Glasner has changed the team’s formation to a 3-4-3, partly explaining the move to sign 22-year-old Ousmane Diomande, who has experience playing in a back three for Sporting. Similarly right wing-back Daniel Munoz has signed to bring specialism on the right, having excelled under Glasner at Palace.

The highly rated Diomande is without doubt the club’s marquee signing so far, arriving to much fanfare to offset some of supporters’ understandable sadness at seeing star player Anderson join Man City.

Forest moved swiftly to fill the gap. Xaver Schlager, arriving on a free transfer, was vice-captain at RB Leipzig and started all four games for Austria at the World Cup. Schlager has been capped 55 times by his country and he won four Austrian Bundesliga titles with Red Bull Salzburg.

Sunderland

Having spent plenty on a deluge of signings in the summer of 2025, Sunderland went for a much quieter approach this time around, focusing primarily on wizened Premier League heads.

Thomas Meunier, the hugely-experienced 34-year-old right-back, joined Granit Xhaka as a senior member of the squad.

Eliezer Mayenda, who only managed toi score two Premier League goals for Sunderland in 2025/26, has been sold to Rennes.

On deadline day, Kevin Danso came in from Spurs in a loan deal with an obligation to buy, along with forward Malick Fofana, who struggled for game-time at Lyon.

Sunderland’s only other significant business was the capture of left-back Dayann Methalie. Regis Le Bris has overseen a summer of quiet consolidation.

Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs were exceptionally busy in the summer transfer window, the flurry of activity reflecting head coach Roberto De Zerbi’s desire for a new direction.

Savio and Omar Marmoush arrived from Man City to reinvigorate the attack, and Chelsea’s Mykhailo Mudryk was signed on deadline day, but the forward line is far from the only area of the pitch that has been revamped.

Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes, bought from Newcastle and West Ham respectively, provide the foundation for a whole new central midfield at Spurs.

Further back there is even greater change. Robertson, Senesi, Tosin Adarabioyo and Van Hecke can all be considered major signings, the latter looking particularly important having flourished under De Zerbi at Brighton. The experienced 'keeper Martin Dubravka has also joined after leaving Burnley.

Vuskovic has departed for Brighton, helping to make way for the De Zerbi revolution, as have Djed Spence to Inter and Cristian Romero to Atletico Madrid.
